So, for the last couple years, more or less, I've been working on this fantasy sort of story that I'm not sure where to post now that it's all but done. There are a few reasons for that, and I hope talking about them will help me figure out what I'm going to do now that I'm pretty much ready to share the finished product.
The biggest thing I'm trying to get sorted out is how, exactly, to classify this thing. It's a fifty-fifty mix of my own ideas and things drawn from various things I'm a fan of. My gut is telling me to go with fan fiction when I categorize it. It will make an interesting elseworlds tale, if nothing else, I suppose.
The setting is the same one I used for a non-standard Mystery Science Theater sort of series I wrote ten or twelve years ago, at the tail end of when such things were still popular and relatively common. I'd like to get back into it a bit, and I feel a need to establish the setting again before I do. If you're interested in seeing some of the previous work in that genre I've done, here's a previous thing I did about it here on dA:
Your Buddy JM, April 1997
Another issue I'm a little worried about is the length of the piece. As it stands, it's eleven pages long, and I've never tried to post a written work that long here. I'm not sure if dA will take a text document that long. I suppose I could try at someplace like FanFiction.net, but for now, I think I'll call that more a second option because I've forgotten a few things about how FF.net's system works in the few years since I've posted there. I'll see how things work out and post an update here if things need to change.
There are a few other things that come to mind, as well, but I've got doubts about how much I really need to worry about them. We'll see how things work out, though.
In the meantime, I'd better get off to bed. I've been up way too long and I need sleep, so I'll post in the near future. See you soon, folks.

So, this Eclipse thing dA's doing...
I dunno, folks. I gotta admit, I'm not exactly what one might call sold on this new Eclipse layout. It's certainly a big change from what it was, that's for sure. It seems a little hard to navigate right now, and I'm just using it to browse and search for stuff, mostly. The new interface is... well, it's new, so I'm not going to rush to judgement on it or anything. I can't say as I like it just yet, though. Gonna have to work with it for awhile before I make up my mind on that. I'm not sure how posting images works out just yet. Haven't tried that yet, and it may be one of the deciding factors in just how much longer I stay around here. So far, I've kept my account on the old design/interface because it was what I was used to and I wanted to give the dev team time to work out the bugs in the new system as found by the folks who were actually willing to give it a shot. Now that we're coming up on being stuck with this Eclipse thing if we want it or not, I figured I'd at least
Thinking of Giving it a Rest
I'm coming up on 500 submissions here on Deviantart, and I'm feeling like I need a break, at least from the lame art, anyway. Because I'm kind of a fan of doing things this way, I think I'll be giving some of it a little break when I get to that 500. I'm not sure how much I'll actually stop doing or how long a break it'll be, but I do know I kind of need it, that's for sure.
I'll still be posting to my blogs and my Tumblr after I hit 500 posts here. When I get to that, I'll post the relevant links here and try to leave it on my front page for awhile. Given how long I tend to go between journals here, that will probably be a rather long w
Happy New Year, Folks
It's a couple minutes from midnight where I am. Just wanted to say happy new years to all my followers. I hope you had a better 2015 than I did, and that you'll all have a good 2016, too!
A Few Passing Thoughts On dA...
There's a couple interesting things going on around the good ol' dA right now. One's this "poster company" that's apparently horking people's art to sell as posters; the other's this whole "core" thing dA itself is doing.
I'll deal with the poster thing first because I have fewer and easier to explain thoughts on that. I'm not going to name names or post links here because it's one of those things where the errant party in this case is already getting plenty of attention just from doing things that are both wrong and illegal, and I'd actually like to get that number down so they wind up going out of business. I can understand why those ar
